Search Warrant results in seizure of Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, and replica firearms


On September 21, 2024, at approximately 6:45 am, BTPS members responded to a call of shots being fired near a residence in Lower Standoff, AB, located on the Blood Tribe Nation.


Upon arrival, multiple individuals were taken into custody. A subsequent investigation resulted in the execution of a Search Warrant which resulted in the the seizure of 62 grams of suspected Methamphetamine, 34 grams of suspected Fentanyl, replica firearms, ammunition, and multiple-edged weapons.


Carter Dylan Rains, 32, of Pincher Creek, AB, has been charged with:

Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Fentanyl

Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine

10 additional charges of Failing to Comply with a Prohibition Order, related to the possession of firearms and ammunition.

Rains had his bail hearing and was remanded into custody until September 26, 2024.


All other individuals located on the scene were released without charge.

Human Remains Located  On October 29, 2024, the Blood Tribe Police Service was called to a wooded area northwest of the community of Levern, located on the Blood Tribe Nation after human remains found were in an advanced stage of decomposition. The investigation is on going and no further information will be released at this time.

September 27, 2024 BTPS is requesting the public's assistance in finding a missing person On the afternoon of Thursday, September 26, 2024, the Blood Tribe Police Service received a report of a missing person, Mia Mountain Horse. Mia, 15, from the Blood Tribe, was last seen on September 26, 2024, at approximately 1 pm in the community of Standoff. Mia was last seen wearing a black sweater, black baggy pants, and red shoes, Mia stands about 5'5 and is approximately 130 lbs. At this time police do not suspect foul play. Anyone with information on the possible location of Mia is asked to contact Blood Tribe Police Service at (403) 737-3800 or Blood Tribe Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.

Serenity, 16, from Standoff, AB, attended the Kainai Pow Wow and Celebration in Standoff, AB, and was with friends before going missing. Serenity was last seen wearing a pink t-shirt, black shorts, and grey runners. She is Indigenous, about 4'9" and weighs approximately 100 lbs. She also has a scar on her forehead, a scar by her right eye, and a black nose ring. At this time police do not suspect foul play. *** UPDATE*** Mya EAGLE CHILD, who was previously reported missing, has been found safe. Thanks go out to the public for all their assistance. *** On February 13, 2024, the family of Mya EAGLE CHILD called the Blood Tribe Police Service to report her missing. Mya, 24, from Standoff, AB, last spoke with her family on Thursday, February 8, 2024, by phone. Mya stated she was headed to Lethbridge. Mya was last seen wearing all black and is described as being 5'5" and 103 lbs, with a slim build, dark hair, and brown eyes. At this time police do not suspect foul play.
